Hoof Seminar Recap and Saddle Fitting Clinic

Dr. Mark Silverman discussing the function of the equine hoof.

Our hoof seminar on September 4th with Dr. Mark Silverman DVM was quite a refresher for some of us and some new information for others. The hoof is a very complex structure, that not only absorbs shock and supports the weight of the horse, but also acts as a pump to help blood flow back up the leg after the hoof makes a step. Dr. Silverman reminded us just how much force and trauma the hoof is dealt on a daily basis. He introduced us to the applications of therapeutic shoeing and the theory of adaptive shoeing.

It’s really true what they say, “No hoof, no horse!” If you attended, we hope you enjoyed Dr. Silverman’s very informative lecture.
